CHENEY, Wash. -- A young girl suffering from a rare form of bone cancer?faced a major setback.

Sierra Higbee, 8, of Medical Lake has had multiple surgeries and treaments for her condition. But doctors told her and her familiy that they are out of options for how to treat her.

The family went to Seattle on Wednesday to search for other options. They said they have even considered leaving the United States for treatment.

Higbee had part of her left leg removed last July and now walks with a walker. The insurance company paid for the procedure after they initially said they wouldn't.

Her family said Sierra remains positive.

"She's just challenged every day, but her spirit is high and she's just a trooper," said her father David Higbee. "She's such a trooper and she just brings out the good in everyone because of her strenght."

But Sierra? had a siezure in February and doctors learned she had a tumor in the back of her brain.

The Higbee family continued treatment and haven't given up on looking at experimental treatment methods. But the attention that Sierra Higbee needed kept both of her parents from working.

Students at Eastern Washington University raised more than $4,000 for the Higbee family in May to help them with the costs.

"We are so grateful for all the help that we've gotten," David Higbee said.

"Thank you for all of the support that everyone's given me and my family," said Sierra Higbee."

KREM 2 News is keeping in touch with the Higbee family and hope to have an update from them next week.
