Story:
Hayli, her boyfriend, and six of their friends have signed up for a vacation from LA to the Alaskan wilderness. They got the idea from a local survival TV show that's all the rage and had the silly assumption that they could handle it. Besides, there rich parents made a deal with the local courts that instead of a short stint in jail for illegally drinking and causing a ruckus at a party that got wildly out of hand, that they'd could go on a wilderness mission up in Alaska to help Native villages. Little did officials know there was no official wilderness mission, and this was instead a vacation of sorts to a cabin on Mount McKinley - ski's and snowmobiles included!
After a few nights on the mountain - with their guide a no-show - it's clear they are in WAY over their head, but have no choice to stay until the their two weeks are up.
On their final night there they decide to throw a party out in the elements and get stuck in the midst of a bad snow storm. Furious from a fight with her drunk boyfriend Hayli had wondered away from her group of friends just before the weather got REALLY bad. Her friends find their way back to their cabin but she gets stuck outside - where a young man who lives a couple miles up from their cabin eventually finds her in the nick of time.
The two will spend that evening and the entire next day together an a bond of sorts will form slowly before her friends find his cabin and take her back. But he doesn't want to say goodbye, and after realizing that a few days later he decides to go after her - knowing only a few things about where she's located.
Characters:
Hayli's a 19 year old popular socialite in LA who's believed to be the perfect it girl with the perfect boyfriend - one of the hottest up and coming male models on the circuit, however she's far from perfect and so is her relationship. Daughter of two inattentive parents who cared much more about partying(drinking, drugs, etc.), their money, and their social life rather than raising their kids, her family life is pretty lacking outside of her older brother. So she instead hangs with her friends - who take pleasure in being rich pains in the ass - most of the time. Her model boyfriend, gorgeous and perfect in appearance, is a spitting reflection of her father - an abrasive drunk, who when wasted trashes her, starts fights, and even puts his hands on her. Shes told a few people about the way he REALLY is but they always assume she's being dramatic and making more of the situation, since how could someone so suave as him - with looks to die for - do ANY wrong?
Growing tired of the LA party-scene, a vacation was just what she needed.
He's a 22 year old young man living the hard life of an Alaskan. His family is lower middle class an often struggles financially time to time, but they're as thick as thieves with an immense amount of love always pouring out of their household. He's handsome, strong, and kind but completely unaware of it, making him extremely modest. And though kind and personable once you get to know him it's hard to notice such qualities right off the bat since he tends to be quiet around people he doesn't know.
Unlike Hayli and her friends there's no fleet of fancy cars in his garage, but he can operate the heaviest of machinery like it was nothing, and when his old truck is out of service or on loan he could carry logs over his own shoulder half a mile up to his house if need be. Like a lot of young men in his small mountain hometown he's a bit lonely and bored, so he often experiments with parties in the woods with his friends, or crazy get-togethers on the beautiful water below the mountain, but he never seems to feel complete doing so. He's missing something in his life.....or perhaps, someone?
